Get to know your council

There is so much to look forward to in your new home within the City of Swan. The City of Swan is a vibrant and diverse local government area in Western Australia, encompassing a mix of urban and rural landscapes.

Governed by a council of 15 members, including the Mayor, the council is dedicated to serving its community through effective governance, strategic planning, and community engagement.

The city offers a range of services and facilities, including parks, libraries, community centers, and recreational activities, ensuring a high quality of life for residents. With a focus on sustainable development and community well-being, the City of Swan is an excellent place to live, work, and explore.

As a resident, you have the power to influence these decisions and contribute to our community's growth. You can engage by attending council meetings, reaching out to your local councillor, exercising your right to vote, or even running for election.

For more information on the City and Council, visit the City of Swan’s website.

Building and construction

At Cedar Woods, we recognize the inconvenience of being awakened early by construction noise. Construction noise is a common concern when residing in a new development.

The Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 states that construction noise is permitted between 7 am and 7 pm on any day except Sundays and public holidays. Builders can be onsite beyond these hours, but noisy activities are limited to 7 am to 7 pm from Monday to Saturday.

If disruptive noise persists outside these specified hours, we recommend addressing the issue directly with the builders to raise awareness of the impact. In case the problem persists, you have the option to file a written complaint with the City of Swan.
